LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are investigating a double homicide in the 4000 block of River Park Drive, near South 40th Street.

LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell says two male victims were found dead around 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

"It's just really, really sad out here," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified. "It really don't make sense. All this gun violence. Can't they just put the guns down and try to get along with each other?"

LMPD has not released any information on what might have caused the deaths but a spokesperson did say they believe the victims are in their teens.

"It's very tragic any time this happens," Mitchell said. "It appears to be some very young people involved in this and obviously our prayers go out to them and their families"

The LMPD Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.

"The kids they run up and down the alley, play ball, play basketball and that's about it," the neighbor said. "But two dead bodies? That's scary. It really is, that's too close to home."
