LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersontown Police have arrested a man officials say punched his girlfriend while he was holding his 10-month-old child.

Terrell Porter, 45, was arrested Saturday in the 10000 block of Snively Avenue, near Taylorsville Road, according to official police records.

Police say Porter and his girlfriend got into an argument, while Porter was holding his child. Officials say Porter allegedly then grabbed the victim by the throat and punched the victim several times in the head, while he was still holding the child.

Authorities say Porter had a loaded .40 semi-automatic handgun in his possession and that he is a convicted felon.

Porter is charged with assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
