LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a Tennessee woman after a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist Monday afternoon.
According to the arrest report, 36-year-old Debra Sutton was driving a GMC SUV eastbound on Broadway near 18th Street around 4 p.m. Monday when she turned in front of an oncoming motorcycle. Police say Sutton's action "resulted in the fatality of the motorcyclist."
The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Donnell E. Whitlock Sr., who lived in the 4500 block of Grand Avenue. According to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Eddie Robinson, he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at University Hospital at 4:43 p.m. from multiple blunt force injuries.
Whitlock was not wearing a helmet.
Police say Sutton did not have a driver's license or identification, but she claimed to have a valid license in Tennessee. Police contacted dispatchers in Montgomery County, Tennessee and determined that her license had been revoked. According to police, Sutton provided an insurance card, but police confirmed that the policy has been inactive since October of 2015.
Sutton is charged with operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license and failure of owner to maintain required insurance. She is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $5,000 cash bond.
