LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a woman authorities say sped from police following a traffic stop and stated she would shoot an officer.

Tamara Brown, 46, was arrested Monday morning in the 12000 block of Brothers Avenue, not far from Shelbyville Road. The arrest report says a police officer was traveling on I-64 East at the 13 mile marker, when he saw Brown driving her vehicle at a high rate of speed. Police also say Brown was allegedly passing drivers by driving in the left emergency lane.

The officer proceeded to stop Brown's vehicle. Officials say the officer approached the vehicle and "noticed a strong smell of alcohol" while talking with Brown.

Authorities say Brown stated she was traveling to Middletown. Police say Brown spoke with the officer briefly, "before putting the car in gear and leaving the scene at a high rate of speed."

Officials say the officer was standing next to the vehicle and had to jump away to avoid being hit.

Investigators say the officer was able to obtain the vehicle's license plate information and it was discovered that Brown was the vehicle's registered owner.

Police say the officer went to Brown's address and found the vehicle in a parking lot. Officials say the keys were left in the ignition and the vehicle was running.

According to police, the officer then knocked on the door of Brown's apartment and she allegedly, "refused to open the door and apologized for making a mistake." Authorities say Brown then yelled through the door that she would shoot.

Brown faces several charges including fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, reckless driving and speeding.

She is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections and is expected in court on Tuesday.
