LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New details emerged Tuesday morning in the case of a man charged with murder in Jeffersontown.

It was only about 30 minutes after Jeffersontown police got to the murder scene that an LMPD K9 unit caught up with the suspect. Christopher Cobert, age 28, is charged with murder, kidnapping, robbery and assault. Detectives say it happened last night around 7 p.m. on Green Garden Court, near Six Mile Lane.

Cobert was arraigned this morning.

Police believe Cobert forced his girlfriend to hog tie her father, before Cobert tied up the girlfriend. At some point, detectives say the father escaped, and that's when the two began shooting at each other inside and outside the home.

Around an hour later police caught up with Cobert.

"It's always good when something like this happens, that you have the cooperation: the witnesses, the people at the scene willing to be speak to police," said Det. Steve Schmidt of Jeffersontown Police.

Investigators believe this could have started because of drugs

Cobert is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $500,000 cash bond.
