LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a garage in St. Matthews early Wednesday.

Officers believe it happened sometime over night on Watford Court just off Westport Road.

Police say they were originally sent to the home on a report of a person down inside of a garage. When they arrived, they found a white male dead inside. Police also say it looks like there is evidence that there was a fire in the garage as well.

Neighbors like Paul Bleuel say waking up to see the scene outside was quite the shock.

"At 7:15 there were lots of sirens, and when I looked out, the court across the street had at least five St. Matthews police cars, several engines and EMS," Bleuel said.

At this point, police are calling this a death investigation since there is no indication of how the man died. An autopsy will have to be performed to determine the cause of death.

The Louisville Metro Arson squad has now taken over the investigation.
