LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- You may soon see a rise in the cost of your health insurance.

Companies want to increase rates by an average of 17 percent starting next year. The Kentucky Department of Insurance posted the requested hikes for individuals and small groups yesterday.

The proposal does not include larger plans provided by employers.

State officials blame the Kentucky Health Cooperative for some of the increases. Many of the company's high-risk customers were picked up by other companies, leading to higher rates.
