Saturday marks 20th anniversary of powerful F4 twister

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Saturday marks 20 years since a powerful twister tore through three Kentucky counties, destroying everything in its path.

On May 28th, 1996, the tornado's path of destruction went for 30 miles, forming in Jefferson Memorial Forest.

Picking up strength, the F4 twister traveled into Bullitt and Spencer counties.

It dissipated just east of Taylorsville.

Damage was estimated at $100 million.

1,000 homes were hit.

No one was killed, but 10 people were hurt.
