LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Friends, family and even strangers came together Saturday to help a family in need.
Mike Underwood died on Friday after an 18 month battle with cancer.
In his final hours, faculty and staff at Bullitt East High School put together an early graduation ceremony for his stepdaughter, so Underwood could be there.
On Saturday, the community held an archery shoot at Bullitt East to raise money to help Underwood's family.
"Archery has become a big time sport now and it's a fun way to raise some money, and an easy way to raise money," Mackie French, a family friend, said.
"Everybody found out what was going on, and the calls, it didn't take a whole lot. Everybody jumped in and was ready to help in any way they could," Dustin Metcalf, Bullitt Central archery coach, said.
A silent auction was also held.
