LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- High school students wanting to get their physical education graduation requirement out of the way or those who need to recover up to one credit in certain subject areas can sign up for the Jefferson County Public Schools tuition-based summer school program.

The district's tuition Summer School Program for high school students is managed by Jefferson County High School. The tuition for each course is $200. Payment is due at the time of registration and before the start of classes.

The first session is from June 13 through July 1; the second session is from July 5 through July 22. Summer school sessions are available at Seneca High School, 3510 Goldsmith Lane; Jaeger Education Center, 502 Wood Road and Ahrens Educational Resource Center, 546 South First Street.

The registration form is available online or can be picked up at the student's home school; counselors must complete and sign the registration form.

Each course is a semester course for which one-half (0.5) credit will be awarded for a passing grade. The maximum number of courses a student may take is two (one per summer school session). A separate registration form for each course is required.

If any information on the form is incomplete or incorrect, the student will not be enrolled and will be directed to call his or her home school for assistance. The student's parent or guardian must also sign the registration form.

Applications must be submitted and payment made in person at the Jefferson County Summer School Office, located at 900 South Floyd Street. Call (502) 485-3173 or (502) 485-3843 if you have any questions.
