CINCINNATI (AP) -- An animal protection watchdog group wants the Cincinnati Zoo held responsible for the death of an endangered gorilla.

The Cincinnati-based organization say the U.S. Department of Agriculture should fine the zoo for having an exhibit where people can gain access to animals.

The gorilla exhibit was reportedly inspected in April and no violations were found.

On Saturday, the zoo fatally shot a gorilla to protect a 4-year-old boy who wandered into the exhibit.

Cincinnati Police say they aren't considering charges against the parents of the boy.
