LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Searchers have found wreckage of a plane that was flown by a missing Owensboro pilot.

Searchers found the wreckage of the missing plane about 7-8 miles west of the Falls of Rough airport in Hancock County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Authorities say there were signs of a fire.

KSP says they've pulled the pilot's body from the plane, but are unable to positively identify it as that of Robert Dalzell. The body is being transported to Louisville for an autopsy, but Dalzell's family has been notified.

The wreckage was found about two miles off Hopewell Church Road in the Fordsville neighborhood.

KSP spokesperson Trooper Corey King says searchers in a helicopter spotted the wreckage at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
