LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky sheriff's deputy has been released from the hospital after killing the man he says shot him.

Madison County Deputy Kevin Cruther tried pulling over Daniel Pigg yesterday afternoon near Berea. Kentucky State Police say the 51-year-old man pulled into a driveway and walked toward a house.

Police say Pigg ignored Deputy Cruther's commands, and then started shooting at Crutcher.

Crutcher was shot in the stomach. He shot back, killing Pigg.

Crutcher is a nine-year veteran of the Madison County Sheriff's Department.
