LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jeffersontown Police Department arrested a man Thursday after police say a child had to be hospitalized from injuries sustained after the man hit him.
According to an arrest report, it happened on Wednesday, June 1, at 5 p.m. Police say 35-year-old Darryl Nation got into an argument with the boy when he slapped the child on the side of his head.
The boy's mother initially didn't call police because she didn't see the alleged assault and the child appeared to be uninjured.
"However, the next morning, he had intense swelling, abrasion marks, vomiting, ringing of the ears and headaches," police say.
EMS was called and the boy was taken to the hospital for tests.
Police say Nation turned himself in and admitted to hitting the child. He was arrested and charged with second degree criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12. He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
