Family spokesperson says Muhammad Ali's family requests privacy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A family spokesperson has released a statement on behalf of the family of the late Muhammad Ali.

Spokesperson Bob Gunnell says family members are requesting privacy after the death of the boxing legend and Louisville native. Gunnell confirmed that Ali died on Friday at the age of 74 at a Phoenix, Arizona hospital following a 32-year battle with Parkinson's disease.

In a released statement Gunnell said, "Muhammad Ali's funeral will take place in his hometown of Louisville, KY. The Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support and asks for privacy at this time."

More details regarding funeral plans are expected to be released on Saturday afternoon.
