SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A trial date is set for a suspended Simpsonville police officer accused of stealing from his own department.

Terry Putnam stood before a Shelbyville judge in handcuffs and shackles.

He's accused of stealing nearly $30,000 in guns and drugs from evidence lockers at the Simpsonville police station in November.

He's charged with theft, criminal mischief and official misconduct.

His trial date is set for January 17.

"We'll continue to be in touch with prosecutors and continue to work for a potential resolution but for now we're set for a jury trial." Brian Butler

Putnam says he's not guilty and that surveillance video will prove it.
