Frankfort man accused of criminally abusing child for soiling pants while toilet training

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say they've arrested a Frankfort, Kentucky, man after he criminally abused a child under the age of 12.

According to an arrest warrant, it happened sometime between March 12 and March 13. Police say 33-year-old Jason Smith repeatedly spanked a child under the age of 12 with a belt on the legs and buttocks, "as cruel punishment for soiling his pants while toilet training."

Police say the beating caused, "torture, cruel confinement or cruel punishment."

A warrant was issued for Smith's arrest and he was taken into custody on Monday. He is charged with first degree criminal abuse of a child 12 or under.
