Investor says Muhammad Ali's home renovated just in time

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Muhammad Ali's childhood home was renovated and opened as a museum just weeks before his death.

"For him to wait, it seemed like, I don't know what it was, but the timing couldn't get any better that the whole world gets to see it all finished," said Jared Weiss, the Las Vegas investor who bought Ali's childhood home.

Weiss bought the house several years ago.

He eventually partnered with a Philadelphia attorney who got the ball rolling to renovate the home.

Weiss explained to WDRB Wednesday that a simple phone call led to an important partnership with the stranger.

"He said, 'I tell ya what, I'm in Philadelphia. Maybe we can partner up. I'll fly out there tomorrow and meet you for lunch.' I said, 'If you do that, it means you're real. Okay, come down.' Sure enough, the next morning, he was there. We met for lunch, we hit it off. He said, 'I'll run with the ball. I'll do all the construction,' and he's been the best partner I've ever had in my life."

Weiss says he is very happy with the finished product.
