LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials have released the name of a man who was killed after he was hit by a vehicle just east of downtown Louisville.

The man has been identified as 45-year-old Joseph J. Dawson, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley. The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, according to Wesley.

According to LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, it happened at Clay and Main Streets around 12:15 a.m. Thursday. Smiley says Dawson was apparently lying in the road when he was run over by the driver of a Toyota Corolla. That driver remained at the scene.

Dawson was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:38 a.m. Thursday.

Smiley says they do not expect to file charges against the driver of the Toyota.
