LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is trying to connect with different communities in the area.

"What we're hoping to do is to generate public interest to develop a rapport, a better rapport with citizens. Let them be transparent and let them know what we're doing, and also to essentially deter crime and reduce drug activity in that area," Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said about the effort.

The sheriff's office will hold its first town hall-style meeting Thursday night in Caneyville, Ky.

Officials want to hear what people are concerned about and put in extra patrols if needed.

Chaffins says his office will hold a meeting in a different community each month.
