Activists ask for peace and a safer community to honor Muhammad Ali

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The community comes together a day after saying goodbye to Muhammad Ali to ask for what he believed in most, peace.

"If we didn't learn anything else from yesterday's ceremony, everybody came together for one common goal. It was about peace, and love and harmony. And that's what this city has to be about," said James Linton, Community Connection founder.

A group of activists gathered today to ask the community to stop the violence after multiple shootings happened overnight, just hours after Ali's memorial service.

They encouraged the city's leadership to come together to make the city safer.

The group says the constant shootings in Louisville are becoming a public health crisis.

Another event is planned for Tuesday to address the issue.
