Crews conducting search and rescue after possible drowning at Taylorsville Lake

Posted: Updated:

SPENCER COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Search and rescue crews are on the scene of a drowning incident at Taylorsville Lake.

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife's Sgt. Scott Herndon said they are looking for a white male, possibly 49 years old, who went into the water.

Herdon said the call came in around 2:24 and crews have been on the scene at Settlers Trace Marina since then, with divers in the water searching for the victim who they do not believe was wearing a life jacket.

The circumstances that led to the incident are unknown. Hendon said that they have received varying reports on what happened and are continuing to investigate.

Hendon also said that while current is not an issue, the lake's depth goes to 50 feet.

With summer and boating season approaching, Hendon's advice to other boaters is to always be careful and vigilant with safety equipment and knowing how to use and locate it.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
