LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- ValuMarket plans to close its Hurstbourne Plaza location in July.

That's according to a news release sent to WDRB News.

“With pending changes in development of the corner of Hurstbourne Lane and Shelbyville Road – something rumored to be happening for several years, coupled with tightening economics and a shift in local shopping habits, we will be closing the Hurstbourne location," said Vice President James Neumann. “This is not an easy decision, but unfortunately a necessary one."

Neumann says they are working to find positions in other stores for the 67 associates currently employed at the Hurstbourne location.

The Hurstbourne store will begin its closeout markdown prices on all items in the store on June 13th, 2016 and cease operations by July 9th, 2016. The pharmacy at the Hurstbourne store will cease operation on July 9th, 2016 and all records will be transferred to the Outer Loop location.

ValuMarket stores have been serving customers in Louisville since 1982.
