LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The countdown to kindergarten is on!

Jefferson County Public Schools and Metro United Way are hosting the kickoff for the annual Kindergarten Countdown. It's tonight from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Slugger Field.

Families registered for the event should have received an "I'm going to kindergarten" shirt. Those wearing the shirt can get information about schools, health requirements and other information at tables set up in the Hall of Fame area.

After that, the student and one adult can stick around for free admission to the Bats game.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will throw out the first pitch.
