Metro United Way joins Center for Women and Families to expand 2-1-1 services

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Today Metro United Way and the Center for Women and Families announced a partnership to expand 2-1-1 services in Metro Louisville.

More than 10,000 people use that service each month.

Callers will now be connected to the Center for Women and Families' existing call center where they can seek assistance from someone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

"It's a win-win for everyone," said Metro United Way President Joe Tolan. "It's going to take 2-1-1 to a greater level than it's ever been before and that's important because we know finding and then accessing quality service is essential for creating positive results for families and individuals in our community every single day.

"That's just the kind of work that comes together when you've got the police working with the United Way and now I'm so excited to see the Center for Women and Families is now a part of this critical process to give people the references and referrals they need."

Metro United Way says over 500,000 have used the 2-1-1 help referral service over the years for all kinds of things, ranging from health care information to financial assistance.

It's available in nine counties in Kentucky and three in Southern Indiana.
