LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Animal Services is looking for those responsible for abusing a dog.

The Pomeranian-mix was found near 34th and Larkwood with a rubber band around its mouth and front paw.

The rubber band cut so deep that bone had become visible and circulation was being cut off.

LMAS staff has named the dog Bandit, and he's being treated for his wounds.

“We are looking for the person(s) responsible.” said Leslie Hawk, spokesperson for LMAS. “We have to take this issue very seriously. This is a potential case for abuse. If anyone recognizes this dog or knows where the owners are, we would appreciate their coming forward.” Callers can remain anonymous but must request to do so. “Obviously, the more information we have from the caller, the more we can build a case. “ Hawk said.

If you know anything about who is responsible, call 502-361-1318.
