HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A driver and passenger are dead after a car crash in Harrison County.

The crash happened Friday afternoon around 3:15 on Highway 135 south at the entrance of Hayswood Nature Reserve.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, preliminary investigation showed a gray Chrysler mini-van and a green Chevrolet were going south on Highway 135. The Chevrolet was slowed or stopped to turn left into the park. The mini-van braked and swerved but was unable to avoid the collision and rear-ended the Chevrolet.

This collision pushed the Chevrolet into north bound traffic where it was clipped in the front bumper by a north bound gray Dodge mini-van. The Chevrolet was put into a spin and struck on the driver's side by a north bound truck. This collision pushed the Chevrolet back into the south bound lane.

The driver and front passenger of the green Chevrolet were deceased at the scene. There were two children in the back of the vehicle. They were transported to a Louisville hospital.

All other victims were transported and checked out by the Harrison County Hospital.
