JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) --  Jeffersonville is poised to turn tragedy into a fitting tribute.

The city's inaugural Pride Festival kicks off at noon Saturday.

Hundreds of people are expected to line downtown streets to celebrate the LGBT community and honor victims of the Orlando massacre.

Organizers say the Pride Fest has brought the community closer together.

"It's a tragic event, and it's heartbreaking, and it's not something that you ever want to see happen," said Evan Stoner, the organizer of the parade. "But I think the outcome of that is solutions and coming together as a community, banding together and unifying."

About 50 vendors will be on hand as well as food, music and entertainment.

It all kicks off with a parade down Spring Street and ends at the Big 4 Station.
