LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police say a man died after a single vehicle crash in Ripley County.

The victim was 36-year-old Bret Brown from Osgood, Indiana, according to a release. The crash happened Friday night around 9:35 p.m. on State Road 229 near County Road 200 West.

Police say Brown was traveling west on State Road 229 in a 1995 GMC. The area is just east of Napoleon, Indiana, which is about 70 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

Officials say Brown lost control of the vehicle while going around a curve in the road. The GMC went off the road, hit several trees and caught fire.

Authorities say Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, Brown was not wearing a seatbelt.

Investigators say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
