EMS workers struck by lightning in Grayson County

GRAYSON COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- According to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, two EMS workers were struck by lightning while working a car crash Sunday afternoon around 2:09 p.m. 

Paramedic Benny Baxter and EMT Blake Schroerlucke were loading a patient when lightning struck the ambulance, causing Baxter and Schroerlucke to fall to the ground.

Grayson County Sheriff Dpty. Bryan Hammons was also on the scene of the crash, standing a foot away from the stretcher. The force of the strike pushed him forward. 

Grayson County dispatch was advised of the incident and two additional ambulances were sent to the scene. 

Baxter and Schroerlucke were treated at Twin Lakes ER and released two hours later.
