Camp Wonderopolis offering free online lessons about fitness, health

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Camp Wonderopolis is a fun, free online summer-learning destination created by the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL).
NCFL is a national nonprofit headquartered in Louisville, dedicated to creating innovative programs and strategies that support families learning together, literacy, and family engagement in education.
Camp Wonderopolis is an offshoot of the award-winning Wonderopolis.org.
The online camp was created to combat "summer slide" and can help build vocabulary, background knowledge in science, reading comprehension, critical thinking, and other literacy skills along the way.
This year's theme is "Flex Your Wonder," featuring fun lessons about fitness and health.
Camp offers 42 exciting units of STEM-based Wonders covering six topics ranging from health to sports and fitness.
Each lesson includes informational text discussing a curious question, an interactive vocabulary study, a video and photo gallery, related activities to extend the Wonder, and a quiz with a chance to earn a Wonder Card.
Recommended reading lists and step-by-step instructions for at-home Maker activities are also included for each of the six topic areas In Camp.
There are also Camp Kits available for $25.
These kits help bring Camp to life with information and materials to build hands-on learning experiences through the summer and beyond.
Youth and Family Kits are packed with goodies, learning tips, and fun ways for families to learn together.
