LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people are seriously injured after police say an intoxicated Louisville man drove head-on into their vehicle.

It happened on Thursday, just before 7 p.m., on Southside Drive, near Palatka Road.

Police say 20-year-old Olgael F. Ngirailemesang was driving a vehicle, when he crossed the centerline and hit a second vehicle head-on. Both of the people who were in the second vehicle were ejected, causing serious injuries.

When police arrived, they say Ngirailemesang had bloodshot eyes, and, "seemed very confused, having to think for several seconds when asked simple questions like his name and who the vehicle belonged to."

Police say he was not cooperative during the sobriety tests police tried to administer.

Ngirailemesang was arrested and charged with first degree assault, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of marijuana and failing to have a driver's license in his possession while operating a motor vehicle. He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.

The conditions of the two who were injured are not currently known.
