Toyota expands program to help Ky. children prepare for kindergarten
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Toyota is helping to steer more kids in Kentucky on the path to success.
It's expanding the United Way Born Learning Academies, which help prepare children for kindergarten. The automaker paid to jumpstart the program with a $1 million grant.
It's now adding the workshops to 63 schools to give parents the tools they'll need to help their kids succeed.
Parents learn not to limit teaching to the classroom, learning that colors and numbers can happen in the car or even the grocery store.
"If you start at the very beginning where kids are curious and interested to learn everything, then you can use those everyday opportunities to provide them with knowledge in that arena. It just fits," said Wil James, President of Kentucky Toyota Manufacturing.
There are more than 160 Born Learning Academies at schools across Kentucky.
