LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo has a new little one.

According to a news release, a male Saharan addax calf was born in the early morning hours of June 14.

"This is a significant birth and the first addax born at the Zoo since 2013," the news release states, adding that, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the Saharan addax is facing imminent extinction.

The calf -- which will be named by Zoo officials in the coming weeks -- is on exhibit daily in the addax exhibit located near the bongo and elephant exhibits in the African zone.
