LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Today Attorney General Andy Beshear announced his office agreed to settle a lawsuit brought against Volkswagen, potentially resulting in $100 million for impacted Kentuckians and the Commonwealth.
That means some Volkswagen drivers in the area could expect a large payout after a lawsuit.
Volkswagen admitted to cheating on emissions testing and now must pay drivers that own certain models. Beshear says more than 3,200 Kentuckians are affected.
"While I believe that Volkswagen's conduct was blatant, I do believe they are living up to that promise to try to make things right with their consumers, with our Kentuckians," Beshear said. "And they are taking responsibility."
Volkswagen can either buy back the cars or have the cars fixed once they create a repair for the problem.
Indiana customers could see a potential payout of $66 million.
