LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Ohio mother says she turned her son into police after seeing him on surveillance video on the news robbing a store -- and she says she did it because she wants him to get help.

Temple Washington says she saw surveillance video of her son, Johnnie Danzy, pointing a gun at a clerk inside a gaming store. He allegedly took off with money and the clerk's cell phone.

Washington says she called police after seeing the video and then finding her son asleep in her garage. She says her son has been battling a drug addiction for years.

"It wasn't easy for me to call, but I knew that was the right thing for me to do," Washington said. "I want him to have help. I want to find help because it's a disease. It's an addiction, but it's also a disease."

Danzy is charged with armed robbery.
