LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A horse trainer and her father are facing charges after dozens of horses were found abandoned on a Kentucky farm.
The Kentucky Department of Agriculture says Charles "Chuck" Borell was arrested Wednesday on 43 counts of second-degree cruelty to animals.
A warrant has been issued for his daughter, Maria Borell, on the same charges.
Chuck Borell owns the company that leases the Mercer County farm where the horses were found earlier this month. Of the 43 horses, six were in extremely poor health and required extensive care.
Volunteers and local law enforcement have been caring for the horses since they were discovered.
Borell is currently housed in the Boyle County Detention Center.
