LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police said Thursday they'll be stepping up patrols over the holiday weekend.

Officers said they'll be out in full force for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

Police will have "zero tolerance" for any drunk driving during the 4th of July holiday.

They recommended that anyone who plans on drinking should have a designated driver.

Police said that during the 2015 holiday weekend there were 77 crashes on Kentucky's roadways.

Nine people were killed and 43 others were hurt in those crashes.
