LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. The ball never stops bouncing.

On Saturday it bounced in Orlando, Fla., where five games were played in the first of three NBA Summer Leagues. (The other two will begin later this month in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.)

Eight guys with local ties were on opening day rosters with mixed results.

Here’s a quick rundown of how the locals performed.

Louisville

Wayne Blackshear, Charlotte – Did not play against Orlando White. Blackshear played in Europe last season.

Damion Lee, Miami – Earned less than eight minutes of playing time, scoring five points, while making one of three shots from distance.  He also contributed a rebound and an assist without turning the ball over. Former Duke star (and Heat rookie) Justise Winslow dominated for the Heat. Lee signed with Miami as a free agent.

Kentucky

Aaron Harrison, Charlotte – Struggled from the field, missing 11 of 13 shots, including four of five three-pointers. Also had more turnovers (4) than assists (2) while playing nearly 36 minutes. Harrison was undrafted in 2015 but was a reserve who rarely played in with the Hornets last season.

Marquis Teague, Dallas – Scored 13 points off the bench, getting four from the free-throw line. Had more turnovers (3) than assists (2). Teague, a former first-round pick of the Bulls, played in the Developmental League last season. Teague was the starting point guard on UK's 2012 NCAA champs, departing after one season.

Dakari Johnson, Oklahoma City – Scored a dozen points while grabbing nine rebounds. Started and played more than 25 minutes. Johnson played in the Developmental League last season, his first as a pro.

Alex Poythress, Orlando Blue – Started, but scored only four points in 13 minutes. Added a pair of rebounds as well as a blocked shot. Did not attempt a three-pointer. Poythress finished his four-season career at UK last March and signed with Orlando as an undrafted free agent.

Murray State

Cameron Payne, Oklahoma City – Led his team with 16 points while also grabbing seven rebounds with four assists and a pair of steals. Made just one three-point shot but it was the game-winner with 3.6 seconds to play. A first-round pick in 2015, Payne played for the Thunder and in the D League last season. In fact, he scored 18 points in 10 playoff appearances.

Eastern High School

Kameron Woods (Butler), Oklahoma City – Did not play. He averaged 4.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in the D League last season for the Oklahoma City Blue.
