Kentucky Army National Guard members come together to celebrate 25th anniversary of deployment

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A band of brothers comes together to celebrate 25 years since their deployment.

Members from the 223rd and 438th companies of the Kentucky Army National Guard met Sunday at Molly Malone's on Baxter Avenue.

The veterans were deployed in Operation: Desert Storm the largest deployment of the National Guard since Vietnam.

The vets say the reunion involved fun, fellowship and remembrance.

"We're just glad to get together and have the opportunity to remember this about the hardships and often the fun things that happened while we were together. It's a brotherhood/sisterhood. They're family just as close as anyone in your immediate family," Robin McGuire, member of the 438th company, said.

The veterans have met up every five years since the operation in 1991.
