Gov. Pence deflects VP chatter, keeping focus on Hoosier State

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WDRB) -- It's not a question of if he'll run, but rather where will his name be on the ballot.

After touring the Bartholomew County fair on Monday, Gov. Mike Pence ducked the one question that everyone is asking:

Will Pence stay and run for reelection as governor of Indiana, or will he become Donald Trump's running mate as vice president?

"You know, I haven't spoken to Mr. Trump since we met a little more than a week ago," Gov. Pence said Monday.

According to Indiana law, Gov. Pence can only be on the Indiana ballot once: either as governor running for re-election or on the ticket next to Trump.

"We are just very honored to be considered," he said. "I really do believe it's more of a reflection of the success we have been experiencing in the state of Indiana."

Going forward, many expect Trump to make a decision on his running-mate by the end of the week.

Gov. Pence has until the end of the week, this Friday, July 15 to be exact, to make up his mind.

On Tuesday evening, Gov. Pence will be outside of Indianapolis, introducing Donald Trump at a rally.
