ORLEANS, Ind. (WDRB) -- Firefighters from several departments spent more than six hours putting out an apartment fire in Orleans, Ind.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, it was first reported just before noon Wednesday. The fire was at a second floor apartment above the Paradise Pizza & Deli, located in the 100 block of S. Maple Street in the town square.

"Everybody I talked to in Orleans says it's the best place to eat pizza at," Danny Longest said.

Longest saw the fire and smoke spilling from the building and shot video on his cell phone.

"[The owner of Paradise Pizza] just hired a delivery boy that was going to start delivering pizza, and she broke down and cried and I said 'I am so sorry,'" Longest said.

Owners Casey and Michael Cooper had just purchased Paradise Pizza in February, and it opened in April.

"They did a ton of work in there remodeling it," firefighter Ronnie Roach said.

"It's been a big hit, and I've loved every second of it," Casey Cooper said.

Everyone was evacuated from the building, and other than dehydrated firefighters, there were no reported injuries according to the sheriff's department.

"There's an insurance agency in the bottom right across from Paradise, there's a Dogwood Realities on the other side. Those businesses should just be water and smoke damage. There shouldn't be anything major with those," Roach said.

The owners say it's too early to know what's next for Paradise Pizza.
