LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police say they have arrested a man who had sexual contact with an inmate while serving as a corrections officer at the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

According to an arrest warrant, it happened sometime in the month of June.

The warrant states that 30-year-old Demar Jones of Lexington, Kentucky, was a Department of Corrections employee when he, "subjected an inmate incarcerated at the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women to sexual contact."

The Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women is located in Shelby County, Kentucky, near Peewee Valley.

Police say that when Jones was confronted about the allegations, he admitted to them. Jones was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first degree sexual abuse, as well as official misconduct.

A spokeswoman for the Kentucky Department of Corrections says he no longer works there.

Jones is currently being held in the Shelby County Detention Center.
