Louisville community members meet officers for 'Coffee with a Cop'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Getting to know your local police over a cup of coffee.

Several people attended "Coffee with a Cop" Wednesday morning at Starbucks on Fourth Street.

It's a way for officers to have a non-confrontational conversation with members in the community.

Officers say they've had a lot of people show support and give thanks. "We appreciate the overwhelming support we've got from the community this week. We just want to come out to the public and let them know we're here for them. If they need anything, this is an opportunity they can share that information with us," said Major Andrea Brown, a commander with LMPD's First Division.

Officials encouraged people to come and ask questions, voice concerns and to get to know the officers in their neighborhoods.
