Robley Rex VA Medical Center making improvements, extending hours

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Robley Rex VA Medical Center on Zorn Avenue is making improvements, with the goal of ensuring veterans get the best care as quickly as possible.

The hospital has extended clinic hours in the evenings and on weekends to give Veterans more time to make appointments with doctors. Several areas in the hospital have been reconfigured to add additional exam rooms and surgical areas.

And a "New Patient Access Center" was created to help scheduling to shorten wait times -- a problem that other VA centers across the country have struggled to overcome.

"I think it's one that we have been actively addressing for quite sometime," said Robley VA Medical Center Director Jim Belmont. "I think it's one that we have been actively addressing for quite a period of time. I think that we have been very proactive in getting our veterans the care that they need in the time that they need it in."

Parking has been another major concern on Robley Rex's campus for many years, so the VA recently partnered with MSD to provide more than 200 additional parking spaces.
