Police arrest man days after woman fatally shot on W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.
Louisville Metro Police say they've made an arrest in connection with a murder that took place earlier this week.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've made an arrest in connection with a murder that took place earlier this week.
Authorities say the shooting happened on West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, near South 23rd Street, in the Russell neighborhood around 9 p.m. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Ashley Spriggs, according to Deputy Coroner Jack Arnold. The cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head, according to Arnold.
Arnold confirms that someone "dumped" Spriggs at the ER at Norton Hospital downtown after the shooting. She was then taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, police arrested 51-year-old Kenneth Willis. Police say a witness identified Willis as the shooter.
Police also say they found heroin in the suspect's bedroom during the execution of a search warrant.
Willis is charged with murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance (heroin). He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
