LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a Louisville man after they say he tried to conceal a dangerous weapon.

According to the arrest report, detectives with the LMPD Violent Crimes Unit were patrolling in the Chickasaw neighborhood early Tuesday morning when they saw the suspect, 24-year-old Brandon Towns near a liquor store at the intersection of Greenwood and Cecil. Police say when Towns saw the police vehicle, "he grabbed the front of his pants" and turned away from them.

Police say Towns tossed a "M-11 subcompact machine pistol ... in order to prevent being prosecuted."

According to the arrest report, Towns is a convicted felon.

Towns is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence. He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $5,000 bond.
