LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville is fined for how it handled the renovation of the Natural Sciences Building.
The Metro Air Pollution Control District says U of L didn't thoroughly inspect drop ceilings, which disturbed pipe insulation containing asbestos.
The district also says the workers doing the renovation were not properly trained to handle asbestos, and they didn't properly dispose of contaminated materials.
The Pollution Control Board is fining U of L more than $5,400.
