Sentencing delay sought in Longmeyer bribery case

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Attorneys on both sides of the bribery case involving Attorney General Andy Beshear's former deputy have asked that sentencing be postponed by about a month.

Former Deputy Attorney General Tim Longmeyer pleaded guilty to a federal bribery charge in April. He admitted using his influence while he was the state Personnel Cabinet secretary to a certain company in exchange for money.

The prosecutor handling the case filed for a sentencing delay last week because of a scheduling conflict.

He also said the defendant needs more time to prepare for the hearing.
