PHILADELPHIA (WDRB) -- There are major protests in Philadelphia as hundreds of people try to get the attention of the Democratic National Convention.
Protesters blocked streets at times, held signs and yelled and chanted.
"People from just about every state are here and all walks of life. If I could talk to a super delegate, Bernie is polling much better than Hillary is," said Josh Frederick, a protester from Louisville. Frederick said he plans to attend a number of protests in Philadelphia.
Frederick came to Philadelphia with Bernie Sanders supporters, including some Kentucky delegates.
Some of them say they plan to protest as well. Kentucky delegate Jacob Drake said he wants to, "Be with the people. Be there with what is going on."
Congressman John Yarmuth shared his thoughts concerning Bernie Sanders supporters who hope he will become the party's nominee. "That is not going to happen. I think what I would stress to the Bernie Sanders supporters is they have moved the agenda for the party," Congressman Yarmuth said.
Protester Sean Carney said, "I just wanted to be down here and kinda hear the conversation myself and try to gauge where the party is headed."
There are more protests planned in the coming days at various locations around Philadelphia.
